New and Improved ESBD Web site

The Earth Science by Design web site has been enhanced and moved to a new home at AGI, the American Geological Institute. Rest assured, however, that all your units and information are intact! Thanks and kudos to Mary Jo Alfano, web developer at AGI, and to Chris Keane, Technology and Communications Director at AGI, for making the transition to the AGI server seamless.

You will notice a few changes in the site:

1. All the resources for staff developers to implement ESBD with teachers are now available in the Resources section. These include PDF files of the entire ESBD Handbook for Professional Developers and PowerPoint presentations to support delivery of the program to teachers.

2. Participants and graduates now have the ability to DELETE units they no longer want. I urge you all to go in and clean out the junk!

3. Mary Jo has created the ability for teachers to place each of their units in an “Earth systems” category and to create keywords which make it easier for others to find the unit. There is also a keyword search function in the View All Units section, which is available only to participants. Please log in, access your unit, and give it a category and a few keywords.

4. Teachers who have completed the ESBD program (”graduates”) now have access to all units created by other teachers around the country. Please take a look at what you now have.

5. The Teaching Resources section continues to grow. Remember, if you come across a great web resource you would like to share with other teachers, send an email to Carla McAuliffe, carla_mcauliffe@terc.edu, giving the URL and why you think it is worth sharing.

6. As always, let us know if you have ideas for enhancing the usefulness of the site.
